Education Programs
Methow Arts has been serving the Okanogan region through arts education programs since 1990. Our four education areas are:
Methow Arts facilitates a consortium of regional partners including businesses, civic groups, schools and individuals to bring high quality art experiences to students in rural Okanogan County. Partners bring ideas, expertise, program support, and venues for student artwork to be on permanent and temporary exhibit throughout the county.
Supported in part by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission, the program serves over 5,000 students in the Brewster, Pateros, Omak (including Pascal Sherman Indian School), Okanogan and Methow School Districts. The primary activity is placing artists in classrooms for residencies that integrate the arts with other curricular areas- deepening and expanding classroom studies, and providing basic skill development in the arts as outlined by the state essential academic learning requirements in the arts (EALR's).
In addition to artist residencies in classrooms; professional performances are presented in the schools and community annually; students are taken on yearly culture trips to attend arts events in Seattle; and scholarships are awarded to graduating Methow Valley High School seniors who intend to pursue the arts in college.
